Be thankful in all circumstances
Always be joyful, never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
A lot of times we say the phrase, "God is good!" when He answers our prayers the way we were hoping but what about when our circumstances aren't what we were hoping? Are we as quick to say, "God is good!"? I can be the first to admit that my thankfulness can lessen quickly yet I am learning and growing to stay steadfast. I am learning to say, "BUT God you are still good!" "God, I am struggling with this circumstance but it does not change who you are and your faithfulness. " "God, I praise you even though...."
I can cling to the truth that God is indeed close to the brokenhearted. (Psalms 34:18)
He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, festive praise instead of despair. (Isaiah 61)
Today, I want to challenge you to dig deep. Take a moment to be quiet before the Lord. Start out by becoming aware of how you are feeling when you first start. Write it down if you journal. Next, start thanking God for everything that comes to mind and do it out loud. Let yourself feel this moment. Cry, dance, laugh, whatever starts to rise up. You enter God's gates with Thanksgiving. I believe something special will happen because you are in the presence of the Lord. Journal your experience and journal how you feel afterwards. I guarantee you will feel different than when you started.
I am thankful for you, friend. Life sure hasn't been easy, you may have dealt with much heartbreak, we may disagree on a few things, but I sure thank God for you. I hope you have a really special Thanksgiving whether you're with family or being safe staying at home I pray the presence of the Lord is stronger than you've ever felt before.
